Biografía
Dr Castro’s expertise lies in the area of clinical psychological assessment and psychotherapeutic treatment of individuals suffering from mood, anxiety, and trauma related disorders, as well as their application in forensic matters where psychological and legal professions intersect. As a result, Dr Castro has developed particular interests in identifying individual, situational, and therapeutic characteristics that help predict treatment success, as well as those which have a direct influence on its related components (e.g., patient adherence, treatment motivation, therapeutic relationship, and future hope). Understanding these elements, and their interaction, will have a great impact on the manner in which we treat psychiatric disorders and aim towards preventing many public health issues (e.g., drug abuse and suicide). At a more micro level, Dr Castro is interested in how individual belief systems and cognitive processes interact, especially given generational and cultural influences, and how such interactions influence risk of psychological sequelae.
