Dalissa Marie Tejera, APRN, MSN

•Dalissa Tejera is a board-certified nurse practitioner and the current supervisor of advanced practice providers within the neuro-oncology division. A proud Miami native, she brings over two decades of nursing experience and more than 13 years of advanced practice expertise in oncology to her role. She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing from Florida International University and is currently pursuing her PhD at Florida Atlantic University, with a research focus on health equity and the social determinants of health.

•She joined the University of Miami more than ten years ago as the first nurse practitioner dedicated to Phase 1 clinical trials in hematology/oncology, working with research therapies that have since become integral to neuro-oncology treatment. Her early contributions were instrumental in the development of the Phase 1 Experimental Therapeutics Clinic, broadening access to innovative, early-phase treatments for patients with advanced cancers in the tri county area.

•In her current leadership role, she guides a multidisciplinary team of nurse practitioners and physician assistants in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care across the neuro-oncology service line. Her work emphasizes the integration of supportive care, survivorship planning, and quality-of-life measures into every stage of cancer treatment. She is actively involved in numerous clinical trials—both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored—helping to translate research discoveries into meaningful improvements in patient outcomes.

•Her scholarship centers on improving equity in cancer research, particularly by increasing the representation of historically underserved populations in clinical trials. In 2023, she presented her findings on strategies to improve Hispanic participation in neuro-oncology research at the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) Annual Meeting, proving her commitment to innovation, inclusive research, and collaborative care, continuing to shape the future of neuro-oncology practice—locally and nationally.
