Dr Gordon Perue began her medical career by completing her Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery (MB; BS) at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica with honours. Her doctorate (DM) in internal medicine followed. During her doctorate, she found her passion for neurology. She then pursued her Neurology Residency at UM-JMH, participating in the UM clinician research track. Dr. Gordon Perue founded UM Neurology annual resident research day and was winner of the first prize. She gives back annually to the Gordon Perue Resident Research Day award. During her Stroke Fellowship at the University of Miami, she was awarded a telestroke research grant.

Dr Gordon Perue has a passion for reducing geographic disparities in stroke and neurological care. While serving as the Medical Director for Stroke at Eastern Maine Medical center she was actively involved in teaching medical students, clinical research and successful established the only NINDs-StrokeNet site for stroke Clinical research in the State of Maine.

She continues to contribute to both her alma mater in Jamaica and in Miami, where she focuses on mentorship, coaching, invited lectures and financial support.

She is board certified in general neurology and vascular neurology.
