Dr. Jonathan Bell is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He specializes in the treatment of tumors of the central nervous system (brain and spine) and head and neck. Dr. Bell has experience treating patients using innovative technologies including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), and proton therapy. He has published numerous peer-reviewed publications aimed at improving outcomes for patients with benign and malignant brain tumors. Dr. Bell's research leverages novel MRI techniques to precisely define radiation therapy volumes in brain tumors, allowing for more targeted treatment and potentially reducing damage to surrounding healthy tissues. He received his MD and PhD degrees through the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at Northwestern University, where he worked in the laboratory of Dr. Leonidas Platanias. Dr. Bell completed his internship in preliminary internal medicine through the University of Chicago (NorthShore). He completed his residency training at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and served as Chief Resident.
