Biografía
Mohamed Abou Shousha, M.D., PH.D. has spent his career working to improve the lives of patients through compassionate care, clinical research, and the development of groundbreaking, innovative new technologies that will better address the gaps in healthcare. He led a team of trailblazing scientists and engineers at the University of Miami’s Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in the development of Heru, a comprehensive wearable vision diagnostic platform that revolutionizes how the screening and diagnosis of vision disorders are performed in eyecare (www.seeheru.com). The platform that won the CES innovation award drives ophthalmology forward, shifting the care paradigm by enabling his peers to use a lightweight, portable headset to perform six diagnostic exams in a single wearable solution. Testing can be performed anywhere, at any time, and beyond traditional points of care. Future applications of the platform include personalized augmented vision correction. The care felt for his patients and strong desire to democratize healthcare inspired this technology which will enhance the standard of care in ophthalmology.
