Discontinuation of antipsychotics on the population of 65 and older

Dr. Samuel Mowerman obtained his medical degree from the Escuela de Medicina ,Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia and completed an Internship at the University Hospital, also in Cali, Colombia. He completed his Residency in Psychiatry at Central Islip State Hospital, and New York School of Psychiatry Program of Medical Psychotherapy at University settings. He has 55 years of post residency experience in Psychiatry divided between New York and Miami practices. Dr. Mowerman was a Senior Attending Psychiatrist and Assistant Director for partial hospital services at the  Zucker-Hillside Hospital part of Long Island Jewish in N.Y. He was for 16 years Assistant Professor at Albert Eisnstein School of Medicine in N.Y. before starting his affiliation with the University of Miami Miller in 2007. Dr. Mowerman’s most recent roles were at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine teaching Residents at the Jackson Outpatient Clinics and was also the Director of Medical Clerkships, Psychiatrist at the Miami Beach Community Health Center. He has over 57 years of experience in psychiatry working in the South Florida/Miami Beach Community area. Dr. Mowerman is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Colombia Psychiatric Society, the Florida Medical Association and has a Lifetime Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Mowerman has participated in many research projects as principal investigator, including “Adjunctive Loxapine in a Clozapine-resistant cohort of schizophrenic patients” and “High Dose Fluphenazine in Schizophrenia" among them. Dr Mowerman also served in the U.S.Army as Major. during the Vietnam War era.
