Dr. Smiddy was exceptional, sharing information that was never given previously during the numerous appointments I had in the past 11 years in New York, Pa., Naples and NJ. He took the time to review the previous reports and analyze the current Situation very clearly!

The injection in my eye broke a blood vessel, made a big hole and almost a week later, my eye is very bloody.

I remember these providers for any needed eye surgery including cataract.

I would recommend Bascom Palmer to anyone who was dealing with a problem with her eyes. It is worth traveling a distance in order to get the top quality care and helpful treatment that I experienced. Everyone from the people checking me in to those making the appointment and the nurses and physicians were just top quality. They were kind and helpful and spent whatever time I needed answering my questions. Not only that they were most accommodating and stayed later to meet with me since I had to travel from Bradenton Florida to the Naples area on an emergency basis. You just don’t get that kind of treatment anymorefrom most professionals and institutions.

I am thankful to be treated at Bascom Palmer.

This was the 4th evaluation for the macular issue I'm seeking constructive remedy for. The remedy requires surgery, so I wanted several opinions. I learned a lot in the process of being evaluated. Everywhere I went had basically the same tech. Some better than Bascom-Palmer. One had color & 3D rendering - which I really appreciated. I usually gravitate toward smaller, more personalized companies and organizations for the goods and services in my life. Bascom-Palmer is a Healthcare factory with valet parking!! Which for me, initially, was a turn-off. Made me feel like a number - until I met Mason at the front desk. She saw me as a person and was good, really good at her job. And everyone else in this very large operation seemed very engaged, very professional, trained and capable. The wait times - a huge issue for me that caused me to walk out of a follow-up appointment at another practice - were well within a tolerable range. Very surprising for a complex operation of this size. So, it was the level & quality of care together with how all these pieces integrated in an operation this large that won me over. The doctor himself seemed very engaged, very busy, functioning at a very high level - but not distracted. He was in the moment and on me, not somewhere else. He communicated clearly the nature of my condition. He wasn't in a hurry but he wasn't wasting time. I had a follow-up phone call the day after my appointment confirming the date of my surgery and answering some of my questions. I guess the reason I'm choosing Bascom-Palmer for the work to be done isn't any one thing in particular - not even the critical impression necessary to be made on me by the doctor doing the work - in this case Dr. Smitty. It was the quality and focus of all these other people and the level of seamless integration that won me over. The people. You start to mess with with that with AI kiosks and I'm out!! Good job.
